Technology the primary subject is the influence of technology on the environment. All the flowers and animals are connected with electrical wiring to show the effect of technology on each of them. The piece is of an imagined future that I don’t want. While the flowers on the bottom of the piece look natural, once the viewer sees the single flower detached from the rest, hanging from a bubble, the viewer realizes the flowers are fake. A girl is presented as breaking the electrical outlet because the outlet represents the starting point of all the wires, and by destroying it, she destroys the effect technology has on the environment.

My piece Creatures in the Forest, for instance sets creatures of my imagination painted in poster color against a backdrop of watercolor. The poster color here emphasizes the fantastic nature of the creatures to suggest that the “unnatural” is not always bad.
